We made it to March! I missed last Friday, so I will cover the last two weeks in this post! Spring is just around the corner and the fishing has started to pick up down here in the Florida Keys!
Last week I did not spend as much time on the water, but I was fortunate enough to spend a few days with a good friend of mine, and I quite enjoyed watching him fall off the back of the poling platform. It happens to everyone at least once, I’ll say it’s happened to me more than once, but he was a good sport about it and we had a good laugh. I also got to fish with my fiance, and she caught her biggest fish to date, a juvenile goliath grouper, and she couldn’t have been happier. Always a treat to get to spend the day on the water with her.
This week I was on the water a little bit more. The air temperatures started to get warmer, as did the water temperatures. This had the fish moving around a little bit more, and they were definitely hungry. With plenty of shots at redfish and snook, we had a couple great hookups, lost a couple, but we caught this nice redfish on Sunday and could not have been happier about it. We also had some shots at some bonefish and some permit, but they were not as happy as the redfish were. We also went looking for some tarpon, but the conditions weren’t quite right. Only a matter of time before they are here, they can’t get here soon enough!
